Step 2

Locates and Permits

We’ll work with various local, state, and federal agencies to get the necessary right-of-way permits. Then, a local utility marker will mark your underground utilities (water, gas, electric) with water-based paint or flags near the public right-of-way.

Step 3

Fiber Drop

A fiber drop brings fiber from the roadway directly to your residence either underground or aerially. As a part of your fiber drop, a small box called a demarcation, or “dmarc” point, will be installed to the exterior of your home.

Underground Drops

Underground drops deliver fiber to the home by burying it in the ground. If you notice paint or flags in your yard – don’t worry! This means a local utility marker has marked your underground utilities. Our crews will then bury conduit from the road to your home.

Aerial Drops

Aerial drops deliver fiber to the home via overhead utility or telephone poles. Before putting fiber on any poles, we must obtain necessary permits and pole attachment permissions. Once we have the okay, our crews will string cable from the pole to your home.

Step 4

Let’s Get You Connected

After our fiber work is complete, we’ll call you to schedule your installation. We understand the value of your time, so we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule. An adult 18 years or older will need to be present during this time.

Equipment Placement

Our installers will work with you to determine where to place the internet equipment inside your home.

GPON Installation

A Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) will be installed. This device communicates with your router to translate light signals into data.

Router Setup

We’ll setup the provided X1 router, verify your speeds, and return anything we may have moved back to where it belongs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are crews doing in my yard?

We are burying conduit in approved utility easements. These easements allow us to access specific areas on private property where your other utilities are likely located.

Why is there paint in my yard?

Underground utilities must be located before digging. A local utility marker will mark them with flags or paint, which will dissolve over time.

Do you provide a Wi-Fi router?

Yes! We’ll provide you with a Wi-Fi 6 enabled X1 Router (at no additional cost!) that is completely managed and supported by our team! Forgot your password? We’ll reset it for you. Need help creating a new network? We’ll set it up for you. And of course, we’ll help you troubleshoot any problems with connectivity or speed.

Can I use my own Wi-Fi router?

Yes, you can use your own Wi-Fi router with our fiber internet service. However, we may be limited in the level of technical support we can provide for your personal router.

What is the coverage area of the provided X1 Router?

Our router covers homes up to 2400 square feet, but signal strength can be affected by factors such as walls, floors and other devices. Our install technicians will work with you to place the router centrally and minimize obstructions. If needed, a mesh unit can be purchased for $135 to extend your coverage.

Will you connect my devices to my new network?

If you need help connecting devices to your new network, we’re happy to help get your first two connected. Any further technical assistance will need to go through your IT company of choice.
